Baqai

The origins of this family go back to a resident of a small town called Apaman in the Khurasan Province of Iran. The name of this person is not documented. However, it is known that he was also a Hakeem and an Eye Specialist. He embraced Islam due to the teachings of Shah Muhammad Ismail. His descendants migrated to Lahore and settled there. Two of his descendants Hakeem Baqaullah and Hakeem “Orhani Waale” also claimed the fame in treating eye diseases. They were invited and traveled to Delhi to treat the eye problems of the Mughal ruler Shah Alam the II. After the king was cured, Hakeem “Orhani Waale” settled in Sikandara as Hakeem Baqaullah decided to stay in Delhi. His descendants lived in a locality called “Hoz – Qazi” in Delhi. One of his famous descendants was Hakeem Hassamuddin who was also a royal physician who earned the title of Hassam-uddollah from the king due to his services.
